Privacy, and the short list of what the desk keeps
A desk that runs on messages should be able to say exactly what is in those messages, what happens to them and who else sees them. Here it is, without the usual fog.
What you tell the desk
Five things, and only because a booking cannot happen without them: the companion you want, the date and start time, the length, the address, and the name your room or flat is held under. For a hotel, the room number is added at the confirmation stage so that she reaches the right door.
Nothing else is asked for. Not your occupation, not your reason for being in London, not identification, not a photograph, not a home address you have not already given as the booking address. If you volunteer more than the list above, it is simply not written down.
How long it is kept
The details of a booking are kept while the booking is live and are cleared once it is done. Room numbers are used on the night and not afterwards. What remains is the ordinary trace of a conversation in a messaging app, which sits in your phone as much as in the desk's.
For guests who book regularly, the desk keeps the minimum that makes a second booking quicker: the companion you booked, and that the evening went well. Addresses are confirmed fresh each time rather than assumed, which is both safer and more accurate.
Who sees it
Cordelia, and the companion you have booked, who needs the address and the hour to arrive. Nobody else. The desk does not discuss one guest with another, does not sell or share anything with third parties, and does not build a mailing list.
No hotel is ever contacted about a booking and no name is left at any reception. If a companion is asked about a guest by anyone at all, the answer is that she does not discuss her evenings, which is the same answer you would want given about your own.
The channels
Messages reach the desk on WhatsApp and on Telegram, and both carry their own privacy terms which are worth reading if the subject matters to you. This website has no booking form, no account and no login, so nothing you type here is sent anywhere.
Nothing about a booking is ever placed in a web address, a link or a page title. What is stored in your browser, and for how long, is described on the cookies page.
Corrections and removal
Ask the desk to delete what it holds about you and it will, and it will tell you when it is done. There is very little to delete, which is the point of keeping the list short in the first place.
Companions have the same right over their own pages, including every photograph, and it is exercised the same way: they ask, and it goes.
One line is enough
Write the district, the hour and the number of hours. What comes back has a name in it, a time in it and a figure in it, and nothing moves after that.
