What is written down, and what is not
Written down: the companion's name, the date, the start time, the length, the address, the name your room or flat is held under, and the figure. That is the confirmation, and it exists so that both of you are looking at the same evening.
Not written down anywhere: why you are in London, who you are with, what you do, or anything else you happen to mention. The desk asks no question it does not need the answer to. How she reaches a Belgravia door
On foot from the station, almost always, because that is the least conspicuous way to arrive in a district of quiet streets. Victoria, on the Circle, District and Victoria lines and national rail, is about five minutes from the SW1W side. Sloane Square is roughly six minutes from the western squares, Hyde Park Corner about seven from the northern edge, and Knightsbridge around eight.
She arrives dressed for the address, walks in without pausing at a desk, and if there is a porter she says good evening to him like any other visitor and goes to the lift or the stairs. For a house or a flat, she is buzzed in and goes straight up. For a hotel, she goes to the room. Nothing about the arrival is unusual, which is exactly the point.

The shape of a Belgravia evening
